Śpiew Syreny // Charmian Clift
In 1954, Charmian Clift set off with her family for the remote Greek island of Kalymnos, where she and her husband were to work on a book about the local sponge divers. She could not have foreseen that the charm of this place would change them forever. They stayed much longer than they had planned, and the rhythm of life on Kalymnos and the rituals of the island’s inhabitants captivated her so deeply that she decided to describe them.
